State Capitol candlelight Vigil in support of the Hamilton Electors

Please join us on Sunday December 18 at 4:00pm by the Lincoln Statue for a few minutes (due to the cold weather) as we come together to light (electric) candles and support our Electoral College.

(Flames not allowed by State - you can download a flashlight app to light a purple screen or picture of a candle, etc. - bring your phone charged) Other lights allowed if they are battery powered.

On December 19th, our country's Electoral College will officially elect the next president of the USA. The night before, we will join with fellow Illinoisans who will also hold a vigil in Chicago, and with fellow Americans holding vigils in cities across the country.

This is not a protest or a rally in support of any specific alternative to Donald Trump. It is a peaceful demonstration of our concern for our country, and our support for the Hamilton Electors choosing an alternative that is "eminently qualified," as Alexander Hamilton said in Federalist Paper #68.

Whether you're liberal, conservative, or whatever your political persuasion, we ask you to join us. Please wear purple as an expression of our unity. Please bring your charged phone or other light source or electric candles.
